In Queensland the use of radiation sources to carry out a radiation practice is regulated under the Radiation Safety Act 1999 to minimise the risks associated with radiation. This includes all Class 4 laser apparatus used in the provision of cosmetic services including:
- hair reduction
- skin rejuvenation
- capillary reduction
- tattoo removal
To perform these treatments in Queensland, you need to undergo a licensing process if you are a:
- Laser technician (new/aspiring or current)
- Dermal technician
- Beauty therapist
- Dermal therapist
- Dermal clinician
- Enrolled nurse, Registered nurse or Nurse practitioner
- Medical practitioner
