Building Your Ultimate Team!
Team building
Whether you are the employer or the employee. Team building is such an important part of any business. It helps to connect staff. When you are spending more time with your team than your own family (as most full-time staff are), healthy relationships are a must.
Is it necessary?
YES!
What are the benefits?
Team building helps boost morale; from the moment that you engage them to collectively choose an activity they are working together. It helps the team understand each other on another level, as it gives them a chance to get to know each other outside of a professional setting. When staff members genuinely connect, teamwork in the salon/clinic benefits.
When clients to walk into your salon/clinic and see the staff genuinely being friendly toward each other and working as a team, it’s a positive and reassuring.
Hands up who has made some really amazing work friends in your lifetime?
Some ideas?
- Hiking
- Dinner
- Camping
- Kayaking
- Mini golf
- Wine tasting
- Escape room
- Coffee and cake
- Picnic in the park, everyone brings a plate
- Treatment night in clinic, crackers and dip included. This one is my personal favorite as you can combine any training needed into the exercise. There is no phone ringing or clients needing you as its after hours. Staff get to experience the treatments, which in turn helps them talk to clients about it. It also allows each therapist to feel the other staff hands and pick up any tips regarding they way they do treatment. PLUS, everyone gets a treatment, so its really a win win.
Getting everyone involved!
Ok, so some staff are keen, and some staff aren’t? That right there is an indication that you NEED to have team building, so they want to spend time together. The thing is, it doesn’t need to be a 5 hour thing, it can be 1 hour, or even 30 minutes. As a team, you can all put your idea into a hat, and the manager picks the winning idea OR make it a little competitive, whoever does the most add-ons for the day gets to choose the next team building adventure. They can be monthly, quarterly, yearly, depending on what type of activity you choose and the budget.
